The best ever fruit

If you ask me, I am the one with a sweet tooth, and I believe that there are plenty of people like me. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that my sweet tooth has led me to some degree of spring glorification. In a spring time I love and will always love my favorite fruit which is strawberries.

Strawberries everywhere

Great fan of strawberries, like me, pays a lot of attention to their color, and is sensitive to their shape which is usually conical. I will be honest with you that I am not concerned about strawberries’ content of vitamin C and source of magnesium at all. I am more into their features which  is elusive, individual and more abstract in a sense, namely their fragrance and flavor.

My sweetening moments

The riper the strawberries are the more they emanate their fragrance which I am passionate about. Because strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside, so they increase the sense of their sweet and tender flavor.

Strawberries are perfect in sweetness, fragrance and complex flavor which are consistent favorable attributes of the “ideal” strawberry experience. They are perfect for different food or drink beverages, and can be used in sweet-bitter combinations. By the way, if you have never tried it before, I highly recommend you champagne with floating frozen strawberries – the experience is magnifique and unforgettable, especially in the combination with bubbles.

As the weekend should be sunny, warm and looks very promising, I have a great proposal for you to make whether you stay at home or go for a picnic. You should give a try and go for the best ever strawberry pie which is easy to prepare and does not require baking at all.

According to the quote of Harvey Weinstein – a famous American film producer, who says some people handle sweets better’, I would like to recommend you a very simple and easy to prepare recipe for strawberry pie which comes from Emilia’s blog 100procenkalorii.pl  

Ingredients for the biscuit bottom: 
  • Package of Digestive chocolate cookies (or similar)
  • 70 g of walnuts
  • 60 g of butter

Line baking form with thin layer of aluminum foil. Cookies, nuts and soft butter put in a blender. Blend all ingredients until the consistency of wet sand. The prepared cookies’ mass put at the bottom of the baking form, pressing firmly with a spoon.

Strawberry mousse ingredients: 
  • 500 g strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup of heavy cream 36%
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2.5 heaping tablespoons of gelatin

Melt the gelatin in a small amount of hot water (1/4 - 1/3 cup). In a bowl, place the strawberries, lemon juice, yogurt, cream, heavy cream, honey, sugar and the dissolved gelatin. Blend all the ingredients until combined. The prepared mass put at top of the biscuit bottom  and put in the fridge. NOTE: The prepared mass solidifies very long, so you should prepare it in the evening and refrigerate overnight (this is due to the slow concentration, the dough is so soft). Before serving, decorate freely with fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce or jam.
